High Peaks Information Center

Before heading out into the High Peaks Wilderness, stop by ADK’s High Peaks Information Center (HPIC). The HPIC is a year-round resource for hikers, backpackers, snowshoers, and cross-country skiers. Get the latest weather report, check on trail conditions, or buy a map and guidebook. The HPIC is a great place to pick up last-minute items—batteries for your flashlight, a first-aid kit, insect repellent, trail mix. The HPIC also rents bear canisters, MICROspikes, cross-country skis, and snowshoes. And our friendly, knowledgeable staff is always happy to advise you on the best route to your destination.

ADK offers two EV chargers as a complimentary service to all of the guests and visitors of the Heart Lake Program Center. To ensure this service is available to all EV drivers, ADK requests that you relocate your vehicle to another parking spot as soon as possible after you are finished using the charger. For assistance, please see an attendant inside the High Peaks Information Center. Thank you for supporting ADK!

The HPIC is adjacent to the Heart Lake Program Center parking lot on Adirondack Loj Road near Lake Placid, NY.
