“What a fun weekend participating in ADK’s Young Member Winter Adventure! I lived in a yurt for a couple nights, met some awesome people, became more knowledgeable about winter hiking, snowshoed up Phelps Mountain & Mount Jo, & had the chance to be outdoors enjoying what the ADKs have to offer!” –Erin Conner

“ADK’s Young Member Winter Adventure was everything I had hoped and more! I got to know 8 other ADK members from across New York State and together we had the exciting experience of spending two nights in a yurt in the heart of the High Peaks. Our uncommon abode offered us easy access to a multitude of trails and spectacular scenery. Our leader, Stephanie Graudons, was able to select a high peak trail that suited our varied skill and experience levels. After snowshoeing through a winter wonderland, we were granted a striking view from Phelps Mountain of the surrounding snow and cloud-covered high peaks. The following day we hiked Mt. Jo, a beautiful short hike that offered views of Heart Lake and the high peaks while still leaving ample time for everyone to make their way home. My first multi-day ADK program is something I will remember forever and recommend to beginner and experienced mountain lovers alike!” -Megan McLaughlin
